Freedom

Freedom 20: Freedom: Slavery

This week we look at Exodua 21-24.  This is known as the Covenant Code.  We see how God's people were wupposed to look different, and why.  We also see how Jesus fulfills this code for us and makes us holy beyond our wildest expectaions.

Freedom 19:  Freedom: Covenanted

In this sermon we look at Exodus 19 and see how God institutes a treaty with Israel that demands unconditional surrender.  We see how communion is the culmination of this treaty, and how Jesus takes the full penalty of breaking the treaty upon himself.

Sermon 18: Freedom: Delegated

This week we look at Exodus 18.  We continue to see how community is not just good, but vital.  We look at how Moses shares responsibility for God;s poeple and how this benefits everyone in the end.  We also look at why there is a need for a plurality fo elders in the church today.

Sermon 17: Freedom: Community

In this weeks sermon we see why community is so vital.  We explaore Exodus 17 and watch God's people rely on him and each other to complete the tasks at hand.  We see how we need others in our life to help us in our faith and help them in theirs.

Sermon 16: Patrick Harner- This sermon did not record

Sermon 15:  Freedom: Songs of Freedom

In this sermon we look at Exodus 15- a song of  deliverance.  We see three things from this song; we see how God saves, why God saves, and who he is.  We see why we should sing to the LORD too.

Sermon 14: Freedom: Delivered

This week we finish up Exodus 13 and continue into Exodus 14.  We see how God prepares and redeems his people, even when they loose faith in him. We also see that faith does not mean things will always go well with you, but it does mean sometimes things go very bad.  That does not mean God is not working, but rather he is.

sermon 13: Freedom: Rememeber

This week we look at Exodus 13.  Once again God commands his people to remember the Passover and consecrate thier first-born son.  We see how this God's primary way of producing faith- remembrance.  We also see how Jesus is th umltimat first-born son who was consecrated before eternity past.  This is the second week of advent, and here we see the peace that God offers to all who rest in him.

sermon 12: Freedom: Realized

This first week of advent we look at Exodus 12.  Ben Powers preaches about the final plague- dath of the firstborn son.  We se how this is ultimately hopeful as we look to th death of God's firstborn son.  We also see the hope of generations of Hebrews being fulfilled by God in one night.

sermon 11: Freedom: Feast

In this sermon we look at Exodus 12.  We see the coming of the Lord's Passover.  We also see how Jesus is the Passover Lamb, and how this text predicts a Messiah and prepares us for him.

Sermon 10:  Freedom: Death of the Son

This week we have a somber message.  Before expounding Exodus 11 and the threat of the death of the firstborn son, Nate takes us on an emotional journey.  He discusses Josh Gigs, a member of our faith community who died the weekend this message was delivered.  The first half of the sermon is Vita Nova greiving together as a church.

Sermon 9:  Freedom: Let's Go

In this sermon, Nate walks us through 9 of the 10 plagues God sends to Egypt.  We see how God was out to save, not kill, call people to himself rather than punish, and bring freedom rather than slavery.  We see how Gpd's judgement and God's mercy are both needed for his love.

Sermon 8:  Due to weather, this sermon was not given at VN and could not be recorded.

Sermon 7: sites/49/49058de62b54a211f569c656cb29ca16/attachments/File/Freedom_7.mp3

In this sermon Tommy Moore walks us thorugh Exodus 6 and shows us how personal God is.

Sermon 6:  Freedom: Midnight: sites/49/49058de62b54a211f569c656cb29ca16/attachments/File/Freedom_6.mp3

This week we look at Exodus 5.  We see how sometimes in our own road to redemption, things get darker before God's light shines.  We also see how we are all ruled by a harsh taskmaster whose goal is to kill, steal and destroy everything good, but how Jesus, in the midst of all this, is working and has already brought us home.
